1.
Stop when it is safe to do so.
2.
Add the amount of engine oil displayed on the
instrument cluster immediately.
Never
add more than the amount of engine oil
displayed. The difference between the minimum

or around 1.0 quart (1.0 liter) (911 Turbo S).
If the display is yellow right to the top

This can result in damage to the vehicle.
Correct the oil level at the earliest opportunity.
e
Visit an authorized Porsche dealer. Porsche rec-
ommends an authorized Porsche dealer, as they
have trained technicians and the necessary parts
and tools.
Driving on racetracks
To reduce the increased loads when driving on
racetracks, Porsche recommends the following
measures during racetrack operation:
e
Check the oil level each time before driving on a
racetrack.
e
Ensure that the oil level displayed is between
medium and maximum.
e
If the oil level is below medium, add around
0.5 quarts (0.5 liters) of engine oil.
e
If the oil level is between minimum and medium,
add around 0.5 quarts (0.5 liters) of engine oil.
e
For regular racetrack operation, change the en-
gine oil and oil filter after at most
6,000 miles (10,000 km).
Go to a qualified specialized repair shop. Porsche
recommends an authorized Porsche dealer, as
they have trained technicians and the necessary
parts and tools.
Choosing and topping up engine
oil
DANGER
Swallowing engine oil
Engine oil is hazardous to your health and may be
fatal if swallowed.
e
Keep engine oil out of children's reach.
WARNING
Engine oil cancer risk
Used engine oil contains chemicals that have caused
cancer in laboratory animals.
e
Always protect your skin by washing thoroughly
with soap and water.
WARNING
Engine compartment
blowers and other mov-
ing parts in the area of
the engine
When working in the engine compartment, hands,
fingers, articles of clothing, necklaces or long hair
can become trapped by moving parts, e.g. engine
compartment blowers or drive belts. The engine
compartment blowers are installed under the hood.
After the engine is stopped, the engine compart-
ment temperature is still monitored. Depending on
temperature, the engine-compartment blowers may
continue to run or start to run.
e
You should only work in this area with the utmost
care and the engine should always be stopped;
make sure that body parts, articles of clothing or
items of jewelry do not get trapped by radiator
fans, engine compartment fans or other moving
parts.
WARNING
Burning engine oil
Engine oil can ignite if it comes into contact with hot
engine parts. Engine oil stored in non-ventilated
areas or thrown-away cloths with engine oil residues
can self-combust and result in a fire.
e
Wipe up spilled engine oil with a cloth.
e
Cloths soaked with engine oil must be stored in a
well-ventilated area until disposal.
e
Allow the engine to cool down before topping up
engine oil.
WARNING
Hot engine parts
The engine and adjacent components, and the ex-
haust system become very hot when the engine is
running.
e
There is an acute risk of burns if these compo-
nents are touched.
e
Take care when working near hot vehicle parts,
particularly the engine and exhaust system.
e
Always turn off the engine and allow it to cool
down before working in the engine
compartment.
e
Always carry out work in the engine compart-
ment with the greatest care.
e
Only top up engine oil when the engine is stop-
ped and the ignition is switched off.
NOTICE
Too much or too little engine oil will damage the
engine. Too much engine oil can result in blue smoke
formation and cause damage to the emission control
