Engine Oil
It is important to perform oil changes regularly in
accordance with the intervals specified in your
Maintenance Schedule .
Measure and display the oil level

Vehicle is level.

The engine is at operating temperature and has
been stopped for at least one minute.

If the display is green A , the oil level has reached the
maximum mark and is OK.
If the lower point of the display is yellow
B , the oil
level has reached the minimum mark. A message
appears indicating a low oil level.

Add the amount of engine oil displayed on the
multifunction display at the next opportunity.
e
Never add more than the amount of engine oil
displayed. The difference between the minimum
and maximum mark is approx. 1 quart (1 liter).
If the lower point of the display is red C , the oil level
has dropped below the minimum mark. A message
appears indicating an excessively low oil level.
e
Do not continue driving.
e
Add the amount of engine oil displayed on the
multifunction display
immediately .
e
Never add more than the amount of engine oil
displayed. The difference between the minimum
and maximum mark is approx. 1 quart (1 liter).
If the display is yellow right to the top D , the permis-
sible max. engine filling level has been exceeded. This
can result in damage to the vehicle.
If too much engine oil has been added, a message
appears indicating the oil level is above the
maximum.
Correct the oil level at the earliest opportunity.

Visit an authorized Porsche dealer, as they have
trained technicians and the necessary parts and
tools.

Failure
Failure of the oil level measurement is indicated by
means of a message to this effect.

Engine oil consumption
It is normal for your engine to consume oil. The rate
of oil consumption depends on the quality and
viscosity of oil, the speed at which the engine is
operated, the climate, road conditions as well as the
amount of dilution and oxidation of the lubricant.
If the vehicle is used for repeated short trips, and
consumes a normal amount of oil, the engine oil
measurement may not show any drop in the oil level
at all. This is because the oil is gradually becoming
diluted with fuel or moisture, making it appear that
the oil level has not changed.
NOTICE
If the oil level is below the minimum mark, the engine
will not be sufficiently lubricated This can cause
damage to the engine.

Display the oil level regularly.
e
Do not allow the oil level to drop below the
minimum mark.
Information
Under certain circumstances it is not possible to
display the oil level. The reasons for this include:
– Engine is cold
– Vehicle has been stopped after full-load opera-
tion at high engine speeds
– Engine oil temperature is too high
– Open rear luggage compartment lid.
A message about this appears on the multifunction
display.
