Flat Tire
Responding to warning message
If the symbol
lights up in the multifunction
display with a warning message, the Tire Pressure
Monitoring System has detected a strong loss of
pressure. This loss of pressure could indicate tire
damage.
e
Stop in a suitable place and check the indicated
tire for damage.
f
Please see chapter „Warning and Information
Messages“ on page 253.
Park the vehicle safely
1.
Stop the vehicle as far away from the driving lane
as possible. The vehicle must be parked on a firm
and flat surface that is skid-proof.
2.
Switch on the emergency flasher.
3.
Activate the electric parking brake.
4.
Vehicles with manual transmission: Engage 1st
gear.
– or –
Vehicles with PDK: Move the selector lever to
position
P
.
5.
Straighten the front wheels.
6.
So that the steering can be locked and the engine
cannot be started: Remove vehicle key.
f
Please see chapter „Emergency release of the
vehicle key“ on page 238.
7.
Get all passengers to leave the vehicle. Pay atten-
tion to the traffic as they do so.
8.
Set up the warning triangle at a suitable distance.
9.
Secure the vehicle to prevent it from rolling away,
e.g. by means of wedges under the wheels on the
opposite side.
Sealing the defective tire
In case of a flat tire, tire defects or tire damage can be
sealed temporarily using the tire sealant set (Tire
Mobility System - TMS). You will need the following
to correctly seal a defective tire:
– The
tire sealant set (Tire Mobility System - TMS)
can be found in the front luggage compartment
and consists of:
– Filler bottle
– Filler hose
– Valve turner
– Spare valve insert
– Sticker with the maximum permitted speed
– Operating instructions
f
– The
compressor
is located in the front luggage
compartment:
f
Please see chapter „Removing and stowing
the tire filling compressor“ on page 126.
WARNING
Risk of accident due to
sealed tires
Damaged tires that are sealed with tire sealant can
lose pressure or burst in the event of inappropriate
speed or continuous loading.
e
Sealing the tire with the tire sealant is only an
emergency solution enabling you to drive to the
nearest authorized Porsche dealer.
e
Use the tire sealant only in the case of cuts or
punctures no larger than 0.16 in. (4 mm).
e
Never use tire sealant if the rim is damaged or if
you have driven with low tire pressure or deflated
tires.
e
Do not use tire sealant at outside temperatures
below -4 °F (-20 °C)..
e
Avoid rapid acceleration and high cornering
speeds.
e
Do not drive faster than 50 mph (80 km/h).
e
Check the tire pressure after driving for around
10 minutes. If the tire pressure is less than 22 psi
(1.5 bar), do not continue driving.
e
Have sealed tires replaced by an authorized
Porsche dealer as soon as possible. Inform the
authorized Porsche dealer that the tire contains
tire sealant.
e
Tire repairs are
not
permissible. Replace
damaged tires.
e
Observe the safety information and instructions
for use in the separate operating instructions for
the tire sealant and compressor.
