3 First Steps
3.5 Functional Test
Implementing a first functional test is described in the following. If the
instrument does not perform as described, contact your local Polytec
representative if required.
Preparation To carry out a first functional test on the system, please proceed as follows:
1. Mount and cable the system as described in S

3.3 and S
ECTION
3.4.
Switch on 2. Switch on the controller by turning the mains switch to position I.
The POWER indicator lights up on the front of the controller. Providing
all connecting cables are installed correctly, the light source in the
interferometer lights up.
3. Switch on the PC by pressing the mains switch on the back to position I
and press the POWER key on the front.
INFORMATION
Ensure that all instruments are switched on before you start the software.
4. Start the TMS software as described in your TMS software manual.
The video camera is working properly if no error message is shown
when you start the TMS software. After starting the software, the
measurement window appears in the application window.
Test 5. You can see the live video image. If the image is too dark or too bright,
adjust the exposure time as described in your TMS software manual.
6. Now test the movement of the piezo as described in your TMS software
manual.
If this functional test was successful, you can now make measurements with
the device as described in C
HAPTER
4 and in your TMS software manual.
If your system does not perform as described above, read through the
information on fault diagnosis provided in C
HAPTER
5 and, if necessary,
contact your local Polytec representative.
