Folding the backrest in
the rear seat
The rear seat backrest is divided into two parts.
The two parts can be folded forward individu-
ally.
The armrest in the centre seat must be folded
up before folding the seat down.
The through-load hatch in the rear seat must be
closed before being folded.
Folding the backrest
To make it possible to fold the rear seat, the car
must be stationary and at least one rear door
must be open.
Make sure that there are no people or objects in
the rear seat.
Fold down the centre seat head restraint
manually.
Pull the handles located in the left and right-
hand sides of the rear seat back forward to
fold down the left and right-hand parts of
the rear seat.
3. The backrest is released from the lock and
needs to be folded down manually to a hori-
zontal position.
Folding up the backrest
The backrest is folded up to the upright position
manually:
1. Move the backrest up/back.
2. Push the back further until the inhibitor
engages.
3. Adjust the centre seat head restraint if neces-
sary.

• • Adjust the seat and fix it before driv-
ing away. Take care when adjusting
the seat. Adjusting it carelessly or in
an uncontrolled fashion may result
in crush injuries.
• When loading long objects, they
must always be secured safely so as
to prevent injury when braking sud-
denly.
• Always switch off the engine and
apply the parking brake when load-
ing and unloading the car.
• For cars with automatic gearing, set
the gear selector to P to prevent the
gear selector being moved acciden-
tally.
• The red indicator should no longer be
displayed when the backrest has been
folded back. If it is still displayed, the
backrest has not been locked.
