SHIFT LEVER / CABLE

SHIFT LEVER REMOVAL

Remove the shift knob cover

, retaining screw

and shift knob

from the shift lever

Remove the fasteners retaining the center console
(see Body / Frame chapter). Remove the console
from the vehicle.

Remove the clip and washer retaining the shift cable
to the shift lever and disconnect the cable end from
the lever.

Remove the retaining ring

and slide the shift lever

off the mounting bracket and out from the frame.

Remove both bushings

from the shift lever and

service as needed.

SHIFT LEVER INSTALLATION

Perform the removal steps in reverse order to install the
gear shift lever (lever, cable, console, shift knob).

SHIFT LEVER REMOVAL (GOLD METALLIC
LE)

1. Remove the shift knob cover

, retaining screw

shift knob

and spacer

from the shifter shaft.

2. Remove the shifter boot

from the center console.

3. Remove the four fasteners

from the gated shift

plate.
