CALIPER REMOVAL

Elevate and safely support the front of the vehicle.

Remove the four wheel nuts and the front wheel.

CAUTION

Use care when supporting vehicle so that it does not tip

or fall. Severe injury may occur.

Clean caliper area before removal.

Place a container below the caliper to catch brake
fluid when removing the line. Remove brake line
from caliper.

Loosen brake pad adjustment set screw 2-3 turns to
allow brake pad removal after the caliper is removed.

Remove and discard the two caliper mounting bolts
and remove the caliper assembly from the front hub.

CALIPER DISASSEMBLY

Remove both brake pads from the caliper (see
Chapter 9 – FRONT BRAKE PADS - Pad Removal,
page 9.17).

Remove mount bracket assembly and dust boots.

Thoroughly clean the caliper before disassembly and
prepare a clean work area for disassembly.

Use a commercially available caliper piston pliers to
extract the pistons from the caliper.

NOTE

Do not remove the caliper pistons with a standard

pliers. The piston sealing surfaces will become

damaged if a standard pliers is used.
