7. Remove oil deflector (E) and idler shaft (F).
TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY
Refer to Transaxle And Differential Exploded View,
Complete, page 6.10 for fastener torque, locking agent,
and grease application.
NOTE
Bearings are to be pressed onto shafts until seated
using the inner race or both inner and outer races
equally. Common bearing installation procedures apply.
Apply a light film of lithium based grease on contact
surfaces of shaft and bearing or bearing outer race and
case prior to bearing installation.
1. Assemble idler shaft to case. Install oil deflector plate
and torque fasteners to specification.
TORQUE
Oil Deflector Plate Screws:
10 ft-lb (14 Nm)
2. Clean bearing plate screw threads in case to remove
all oil or grease residue.
3. Push pinion shaft into case until seated. The bearing
retainer plate should be flush against the case.
Install new screws (with pre-applied locking agent) or
clean the threads of existing screws to remove all oil
or grease. Apply Loctite® 242 (Blue) to screw
threads.
4. Torque bearing retainer screws to specification.
TORQUE
Bearing Retainer Plate Screws:
20 ft-lb (27 Nm)
TRANSAXLE / DIFFERENTIAL
