EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE (EGT)
SENSOR
CAUTION
Exhaust system components can cause severe burns.
Allow exhaust system to cool completely before
servicing EGT sensor(s).
The exhaust system features two exhaust gas
temperature (EGT) sensors. One EGT sensor
q
is
screwed into the top section of the resonator. The
second EGT sensor
w
is screwed into the center section
of the exhaust pipe.
Test the sensor(s) using Digital Wrench. The EGT will not
return reliable resonator pipe temperatures when the
engine is at idle speed. For this reason, test drive the
snowmobile to bring the exhaust system up to operating
temperature.
EXHAUST TEMPERATURE SENSOR
Resistance
Values
349.5Ω @ 392 °F (200 °C)
767.3Ω @ 1562 °F (850 °C)
When removing the resonator or exhaust pipe from the
vehicle, disconnect the EGT wire connectors. Remove
the EGT sensor(s) from the resonator or pipe only when
replacement is required.
