Appendix A: How to Check MAC Address
The MAC address on the network interface card is a unique identification code. The
MAC address is also called Physical address. Each interface network card is included
with a 6-byte identification number after it is manufactured.
Follow the steps below to check for the MAC address in Windows 98/95/Me:
1. Select
Start
>
Run
, and enter
command prompt
on the screen to access
Command
Prompt
window.
2. Enter
winipcfg
in the
Command Prompt
window. Press
OK
to access the IP
configuration.
3. You will be able to see the MAC address displayed in the
Command Prompt
window.
For instance, if the MAC address displayed is 6C-74-7E-C0-5C-EF, you should write
down these 12 characters using the “:” colon symbol to set the characters apart:
6C:74:7E:C0:5C:EF
.
Follow the steps below to check for the MAC address in Windows 2000/XP:
1. Select
Start > All
Programs > Accessories >
Command Prompt
to access the
Command Prompt
window.
2. Enter
ipconfig -all
after
C:\>
, and press
Enter
. Write down the MAC address
displayed.
Use the quick installation program included on the installation CD to check for the
MAC address. Follow the steps below:
1. Insert the enclosed installation CD into the CD-ROM drive of your PC. Select an
interface language, and select
Install utility
.
2. Select
IP Address Lookup
, and write down the MAC address displayed.
