8. Machine Areas
8.1 Introduction
During this section of the training, we review the different areas of the machine, and
the key set up procedures for each area. See Section 7.4 in the Service Manual for
the location of components and Sections 7.8 and 7.9 for sensor and motor
information.
The Axis Calibration of the PSQ160 is critical to the quality of the books it will
produce. Performing these procedures ensures all of the sub-assemblies are in
correct alignment to each other.
Note: Areas marked with red paint are Factory Settings only. You must not change
this setting unless instructed to do so as part of a Call Escalation.
8.2 Connecting Bridge
The rotator conveyor and the uplift conveyor are both driven by stepper motors.
The axes are adjusted by stepper motors, one for the Rotate axis and one for the
Centre axis.
The rotator and uplift conveyor motors run when the PSQ160 starts.
The sheets are transported past 2 optical sensors in the rotator and 2 optical
sensors in the uplift. The first sensor is located at the Rotator Infeed, the 2nd at the
Rotator Outfeed, the 3rd at the Uplift Infeed and the 4th at the Uplift Outfeed.
If the time between the operation of the sensors is too long or if a sensor remains
covered, then a flow error or paper jam will be indicated.

