USING A KEYWORD TO SEARCH FOR
TRACKS
You can sea r ch fo r t r acks by in p utting the title o r name of a r tist.
use the r ota r y selecto r dial o r USB keyboa r d to in p ut the
cha r acte r s. When using a USB keyboa r d to p e r fo r m sea r ches, see
the section “TRACK SELECTION WITH A USB KEYBOARD”(P. 30).
1 Turn the rotary selector dial.
• Select the sea r ch catego r y, [ SEARCH ] o r
[ SEARCH ].
2 Press the select down (

) button or the rotary selector dial.
• The cha r acte r in p ut mode will be initiated.
3 Operate the rotary selector dial to input characters.
• A maximum of 25 cha r acte r s can be in p ut.
Select u p (  ) button:
e r ase the immediately pr eceding cha r acte r .
Select down (

) button:
the same cha r acte r as the final in p ut cha r acte r will be in p ut,
and the cu r so r will move to the next s p ace.

Confi r m sea r ch cha r acte r st r ing, end in p ut mode, and begin
sea r ch.
4 After completing input of the desired search string, press the
rotary selector dial.
• The numbe r of sea r ch hits will flash and sea r ch will begin.
• When the sea r ch is com p leted, the sea r ched t r ack will be
dis p layed.
• The numbe r of sea r ch hits changes to steadily lighted and
the numbe r of sea r ched t r acks a pp ea r s, and the sea r ched
t r acks a r e dis p layed in a list.
5 Load the searched tracks:
• Use the r ota r y selecto r dial to select desi r ed t r acks, and then
pr ess eithe r LOAD A button o r LOAD B button.
MEMO
• U p to 3 000 t r acks can be sea r ched.
• To inte rr u p t the sea r ch pr ocess midway th r ough, pr ess the
USB function button. The sea r ch r esults to that p oint will be
dis p layed.
• The sea r ch pr ocess will be inte rr u p ted if you r etu r n to the level
above that cu rr ently being sea r ched, o r if you change the
selected device.
• Afte r com p leting a sea r ch, the sea r ch r esults will be pr ese r ved
until a subsequent sea r ch is p e r fo r med, even if you r etu r n to
the level above the cu rr ent level, o r if you switch the selected
device.
• To p e r fo r m a new sea r ch, pr ess the select down (  ) button o r
the r ota r y selecto r dial and choose [
NEW SEARCH
] f r om the
menu.
• A keyboa r d can also be used fo r sea r ches. Fo r info r mation on
using a keyboa r d fo r sea r ches, see “Keyboa r d In p ut Refe r ence
Table” (P. 30).
• If a keyboa r d is connected du r ing the cha r acte r in p ut mode,
o p e r ations using the select down (  ) button and r ota r y
selecto r dial a r e disabled.
• If the cu r so r is on the [
SEARCH
] o r [
SEARCH
] items,
t r acks cannot be r eco r ded to [ LOAD ] o r [ PLAYLIST ].
• When [
SEARCH
] o r [
SEARCH
] is selected, the jum p
function cannot be used to move to the initial cha r acte r s of
sea r ch st r ings (P. 30).
• When LOAD is p e r fo r med f r om sea r ch r esults, the r esults a r e
t r eated as a single t r ack. When the loaded t r ack ends, “END” is
dis p layed and p lay does not advance to the next t r ack.
• When LOAD is p e r fo r med f r om sea r ch r esults, “INFORMATION
JUMP” (P. 28) is disabled.
NOTE
• Keywo r d sea r ch cannot be p e r fo r med if no lib r a r y has been
c r eated.
• Even if a lib r a r y has been c r eated, keywo r d sea r ch cannot be
p e r fo r med exce p t in the lib r a r y b r owse mode.
