START PLAYBACK (Using normal connections)

SELECT THE TRACK
1 Press the BROWSE button.
The BROWSE sc r een will a pp ea r .
2 Prepare the source you wish to play.
For discs
Load the disc into eithe r D r ive 1 o r D r ive 2.
For USB storage devices
Inse r t the USB sto r age device into eithe r p o r t USB1 o r USB2.
For DJS
Connect you r com p ute r to the d r ive unit’s PC connecto r , and sta r t
the DJS softwa r e.
3 Use the function buttons to select the source you wish to
play.
The contents of the selected sou r ce will be dis p layed in the
window. In the event that a lib r a r y is pr esent in the USB
sto r age device, t r ack selection can be p e r fo r med by the name
of the album o r a r tist.
4 Turn the rotary selector dial.
The selection cu r so r in the b r owse window can be moved u p /
down. The contents dis p lay shows the contents of selected
folde r s and t r ack info r mation.
5 Use the select up (

)/down (

) buttons to move up/down
the folder hierarchy.
When a folde r has been selected, pr ess the button (o r pr ess
the r ota r y selecto r dial) to ente r that folde r .
P r ess the select u p (  ) button to r etu r n one level u p the folde r
hie r a r chy.
6 Press the LOAD A button or LOAD B button.
A t r ack will be loaded in the cont r olle r A o r B, and the loaded
t r ack will begin p layback.

Track menu
If the r ota r y selecto r dial is pr essed when a t r ack is selected, the
contents dis p lay will show the t r ack menu and the r ota r y selecto r
dial can then be used to execute the menu items:

1 Of the four buttons (BROWSE, MIX, EFFECT, UTILITY), once
again press the one currently selected to turn it OFF.
The dis p lay will show t r ack info r mation, including the sou r ce
name, title, a r tist name, album name, gen r e, total p laying time,
bit- r ate, and BPM.
P r ess the select u p (  ) button to move the menu to the folde r
with the cu rr ently p laying t r ack on cont r olle r A; pr ess the
select down (  ) button to move the menu to the folde r with the
cu rr ently p laying t r ack on cont r olle r B (INFORMATION JUMP).

M3U FILE
The MEP-7000 su pp o r ts files in the m3u fo r mat.
Files with the extension m3u a r e t r eated the same as folde r s; when
selected with the cu r so r , the r eco r ded t r acks a r e shown on the
contents dis p lay in the fo r m of a p laylist.

• In the case of music CDs (CD-DA), the disc in D r ive 1 is set
in Cont r olle r A, and the disc in D r ive 2 is set in Cont r olle r B.
The cont r olle r cannot be o p tionally designated.
• If LOAD LOCK is ON, loading cannot be p e r fo r med in the
cu rr ently p laying cont r olle r . In this case, pr ess the p lay/
p ause (  ) button to set the p ause mode, o r pr ess the
CUE button to p e r fo r m back cue, and then pr ess the LOAD
button.
• The LOAD LOCK can be set to ON/OFF by means of the
UTILITY sc r een (P. 61).

• U p to 100 m3u files can be dis p layed p e r device.
• U p to 300 t r acks can be dis p layed fo r each m3u file. Howeve r ,
if a file exceeds 308 000 bytes, t r acks loaded p ast that size
cannot be dis p layed.
• M3U files a r e not su pp o r ted using HFS+ file systems on USB
sto r age devices.
• In the case of discs, sho r t file name notation is not su pp o r ted.
NOTE
• When this unit’s lib r a r y function (P. 62) is used fo r b r owsing,
m3u files will not be dis p layed.
• Since a va r iety of fo r mats can coexist within an m3u p laylist, it
may not o p e r ate pr o p e r ly in all cases.
