HANDLING DISCS AND OTHER MEDIA
LOADING AND REMOVING DISCS
1 Set the drive unit’s front panel POWER switch to ON.
2 Insert a disc.
• Inse r t the disc flat with the label su r face u pr ight.
• Only one disc can be loaded at a time. Do not attem p t to
inse r t two discs togethe r , o r to inse r t a second disc when
one is al r eady p laying.
• When inse r ting a disc, do not a pp ly excessive fo r ce, o r so
much pr essu r e that the disc bends. Also, when the
mechanism is p ulling in a disc o r ejecting a disc, do not
a pp ly o pp osing pr essu r e so as to defeat the mechanism’s
p u rp ose. Any of these actions may damage the disc o r
mechanism.
3 To remove a currently playing disc, first press the play/pause
(

) button to stop the playback, then press the EJECT (

)
button. Alternately, when a cue point has been set, during
play press the CUE button (to cause “back cue”) and then
press the EJECT (

) button.
Disc r otation will sto p and the disc will be ejected f r om the slot.
REGARDING FORCIBLE DISC EJECT
If the EJECT (

) button fails to o p e r ate and a disc cannot be
r emoved, inse r t the fu r nished fo r cible eject p in into the fo r cible
eject hole on the f r ont p anel of the d r ive unit to allow the disc to be
r emoved.
When p e r fo r ming fo r cible eject, always abide by the following
pr ecautions:
1 Turn off the power to the drive unit and wait at least one
minute.
2 Use only the furnished eject pin (do not use other objects)
When the fo r cible eject p in is inse r ted fully into the fo r cible
eject hole, the disc will come out of the slot by about 5 mm to
10 mm, whe
r e it can be g r as p ed by the finge r s and r emoved.
NOTE
• Do not attem p t to fo r cibly inse r t a disc when the p owe r is
off, since damage may occu r to the disc o r loading
mechanism.
NOTE
• Do not attem p t to r einse r t a disc while the eject pr ocedu r e
is still o p e r ating and the [ EJECT ] indicato r is lighted. If a
disc is pr essed back in while it is still being ejected (the
[ EJECT ] indicato r is lighted), the mechanism may sto p . In
this case, pr ess the EJECT (  ) button once again, and wait
until the [ EJECT ] indicato r has gone out befo r e r einse r ting
the disc.

Inserting the forcible eject pin before one minute
has elapsed may occasion the following dangers:
• The disc may be ejected while it is still r otating at high s p eed,
causing inju r y to finge r s o r hands.
• The d r ive’s disc clam p may r otate in an unstable condition,
causing damage to the disc.
