INSTALLATION GUIDELINES
• Placing and using the p laye r fo r long p e r iods on heat-gene r ating
sou r ces such as am p lifie r s o r nea r s p otlights, etc. will affect
pr oduct p e r fo r mance. Avoid p lacing the p laye r on heat-
gene r ating sou r ces.
• Install this p laye r as fa r as p ossible away f r om tune r s and TV
sets. A p laye r installed in close pr oximity to such equi p ment
may cause noise o r deg r adation of the p ictu r e. Noise may be
noticeable when an indoo r antenna is used. In such cases,
make use of an outdoo r antenna o r tu r n off p owe r to the p laye r .
• When the unit is used in a loud-sound envi r onment, e.g., nea r a
s p eake r , sound ski p may occu r . Install the unit away f r om the
s p eake r o r r educe the listening volume.
• Place this unit on a level su r face and a stable p latfo r m.
• Do not p lace heavy objects on to p of the unit.
Be su r e the p laye r , including its audio and p owe r su pp ly co r ds,
does not touch vib r ating mate r ials. Any cause of vib r ation othe r
than the insulato r s may cause sound ski p .
Take s p ecial ca r e when using the p laye r while it is installed in a
ca rr ying case.
Installing the MEP-7000 in an EIA rack
The sc r ew holes on the f r ont p anel of the MEP-7000 a r e designed
fo r use in attaching the unit to a 19-inch EIA r ack.
Cont r ol unit com p lies with 3U s p ecifications; d r ive unit com p lies
with 2U. Maximum de p th of unit is 324.6 mm.
• Attach the unit to the r ack using sc r ews of the a ppr o pr iate size
(sc r ews not pr ovided with the unit).
Transporting the unit

Never move the unit during playback.
Du r ing p layback, discs r otate at ve r y high s p eeds; neve r lift o r
move the unit du r ing this time to pr event sc r atches o r othe r
damage to discs.

Transporting the unit
When moving the unit, always r emove any discs that have been
loaded, and tu r n off the p owe r .
Moving the unit with a disc loaded could r esult in damage to the
disc o r unit.
About carrying cases
The jog dial is equi pp ed with a delicate switch. If the unit is p laced
in a ca rr ying case, take pr ecautions to pr event any pr essu r e f r om
being exe r ted on the su r face of the jog dial.
Condensation
When this unit is b r ought into a wa r m r oom f r om pr eviously cold
su rr oundings o r when the r oom tem p e r atu r e r ises sha rp ly,
condensation may fo r m inside the unit and im p ai r its
p e r fo r mance. In such cases, allow the unit to stand fo r about an
hou r o r r aise the r oom tem p e r atu r e g r adually.
Cleaning the player
To clean the p laye r wi p e with a p olishing o r a soft, d r y cloth. Fo r
stubbo r n di r t, moisten a soft cloth with a weak solution of neut r al
dete r gent (diluted in five to six p a r ts wate r ), w r ing the cloth well,
and wi p e away the di r t. Use a d r y cloth to wi p e the su r face d r y. Do
not use volatile liquids such as benzene o r thinne r which will
damage to the unit.
CD lens cleaner
If fo r some r eason, the lens becomes soiled and malfunctions,
contact you r nea r est PIONEER autho r ized se r vice cente r . Lens
cleane r s fo r CD p laye r s a r e comme r cially available, but s p ecial
ca r e should be exe r cised in thei r use as some may cause damage
to the lens.
Cleaning the Jog Dial
To clean the jog dial wi p e with a p olishing o r a soft, d r y cloth. Fo r
stubbo r n di r t, moisten a soft cloth with a weak solution of neut r al
dete r gent (diluted in five to six p a r ts wate r ), w r ing the cloth well,
and wi p e away the di r t. Use a d r y cloth to wi p e the su r face d r y.
A pp lying alcohol, p aint thinne r , benzene, insecticides, o r othe r
st r ingent substances to the jog dial may cause the ma r kings o r
finishing of the dial to p eel o r become discolo r ed, and the use of
any such substances should acco r dingly be avoided.
NOTE
• Do not install the unit immediately above a p owe r am p lifie r ,
since damage may occu r f r om the heat pr oduced by the
am p lifie r , o r humming o r othe r noise may be caused.
• When t r ans p o r ting the unit, r emove the unit f r om its r ack.
Attem p ting to move the r ack with the unit installed may
r esult in damage to the unit.
• If the unit must be moved while still in its r ack, take
pr ecautions to pr otect the unit f r om vib r ation and im p act.
