Troubleshooting
Inco rr ect o p e r ation is often mistaken fo r t r ouble o r malfunction. If you think that the r e is something w r ong with this
com p onent, check the p oints below. Sometimes the t r ouble may lie in anothe r com p onent. Ins p ect the othe r
com p onents and elect r ical a pp liances being used. If the t r ouble cannot be r ectified even afte r checking the p oints

• Check whethe r o r not the file is damaged.
Is the disc sc r atched? It may not be p ossible to p lay sc r atched discs.
Is the disc di r ty? Clean the disc ( p age 44).
Is the r e a p iece of p a p e r o r
sticke r attached to the disc?
The disc may be wa rp ed and un p layable.
Is the disc pr o p e r ly set in the
disc t r ay?
• Set the disc with the pr inted side facing u p .
• Set the disc pr o p e r ly in the de pr ession in the disc t r ay.

• Disconnect the cable (video/audio cable o r HDMI cable), then

Is the video cable damaged? If the cable is damaged, r e p lace it with a new one.
Is the in p ut setting on the

Read the o p e r ating inst r uctions fo r the connected com p onents and
switch to the pr o p e r in p ut.
Is the out p ut video r esolution
pr o p e r ly set?
• P r ess HDMI to switch the video r esolution out p ut f r om the HDMI
OUT te r minal ( p age 12).
• Is the p laye r connected

wish to out p ut the video signals with 1080 p o r Dee p Colo r , connect the
TV using a High S p eed HDMI

then r eset the p laye r using the Setup Navigator ( p age 20).
Is a DVI device connected? The p ictu r e may not be dis p layed pr o p e r ly if a DVI device is connected.
Is Color Space pr o p e r ly set? Change the Color Space setting ( p age 35).
Playback sto p s. • Playback may sto p if the unit is subject to shocks o r set in an unstable
p lace.
• Playback may sto p when a USB device is connected o r disconnected
du r ing p layback. Do not connect o r disconnect USB devices du r ing
p layback.

STANDBY/ON on the
p laye r ’s f r ont p anel to tu r n off the p owe r , then tu r n the p owe r back on.
• If the p owe r cannot be tu r ned off (set to standby), use a thin r od to
pr ess the r eset button on the main unit’s f r ont p anel. The unit r esta r ts,
at which p oint it is again o p e r able.

definition when p laying BDs.
With some discs, it may not be p ossible to out p ut the video signals f r om
the VIDEO out p ut te r minal. In this case, connect using an HDMI cable
( p age 14).
