4.5 Massage Intensity
Massage with HIVAMAT
®
200 should be performed following the principle of minimal intensity. This in-
tensity can be determined by, first of all, adjusting the
intensity control <6>
to 80-90 %. Then, with an
appropriate pressure of massage exerted, turn down intensity until a resonant vibration is felt from the
depth of the tissue.
Avoid excessive vibration, which is effective only at the surface (rubbing)!
NOTICE
During the massage, the resonant vibration is adapted to the consistency of the tissue by ad-
justing mode, frequency and pressure of massage.
4.6 Massage Technique
Massage ought to be performed as a massage in the direction of flow, in wide movements. Compression
and velocity of the massage are adapted to intensity and frequency.
Start massage from the proximal edge of the area to receive the massage in direction of flow. Only when
this transitional region is passable, continue massage in distal direction. In doing so, as before and pay at-
tention to the direction of flow. Before starting massage, always perform a visual control, a contact control
and a functional examination on the patient.
Important
Moist skin in the area to receive the massage can result in the failure of the massage. Moist-
ness can possibly be worked against by powdering, towelling, hot air or resting.
Adapt frequency, mode and intensity to the individual state of the patient and pay attention
to contraindications!
