Commissioning
When power is first applied to the Nanoline, it will start running the program loaded in
memory. If input and output devices are connected, they will begin operating as well. To
prevent possible equipment damage and inadvertent movement, this section provides a
guide to starting, or commissioning, a controller.
4.1
Introduction
Commissioning can be defined as ensuring the designed and installed system functions
correctly according to the specification. The intent of this section is to provide a description
and overview of the items that must be checked to verify installation.
The start-up and commissioning procedure falls into the following categories:

Installation checks
2.
Field wiring
3.
Power up and functionality
4.
Field equipment
5.
Control strategy
6.
Network setup
It is important to obtain copies of all the design documentation or ensure they are available
on site. The documentation should include:

Project program

Job specification

Points chart
–
Wiring diagrams

Panel schematics
–
System schematics
–
Site plans with sensor locations
–
Specialist field equipment details
–
Control strategy details/drawings
–
Configuration program
–
Health and safety assessment
Initial briefing by the Contracts Engineer, Applications Engineer and Electrical Supervisors
are essential for a smooth transition through the project.

Do not apply power to the Nanoline or any controller until authorized to do so as outlined
in this section. Failure to follow this may result in damage to the control equipment, field
sensors, actuators or other network devices and void any warranty.
