Nanoline to Nanoline communication
Communication directly between two Nanoline controllers allows the exchange of up to 32
flags and 32 registers while each controller continues to run independent programs. One
controller is set as the master and the other as the slave. Based on the poll rate, the master
sends read/write commands to the slave in a specific sequence.

The master reads flags 90 to 105 from the slave and sets its flags 90 to 105 to match.

The master writes its flags 106 to 121 to the slave’s flags 106 to 121.

The master writes its registers 106 to 121 to the slave’s registers 106 to 121.
–
The master reads registers 90 to 105 from the slave and sets its registers 90 to 105 to
match.
A possible application may be at a water plant with a master controller located at the pump
station and a slave controller at a tank. The master controller can poll the slave controller to
determine tank level. The master can use that information, along with other inputs such as
time, to determine if the pumps should be turned on.
3.5.1
Connection
Connection between the two Nanoline controllers is through either an RS-232 or RS-485
crossover cable. The controller must be equipped with the appropriate communication
module (NLC-MOD-RS232 or NLC-MOD-RS485) to allow connection of the cable.

Nanoline to Nanoline communication requires both controllers are using firmware 1.02.0
or higher. NanoNavigator 4.0.3 or higher is required for configuration.
Flags are written unconditionally, regardless of state (forced on or off).
Data item type is not considered when writing registers between controllers.
