7 Startup
Once you have mounted, connected, and wired the controllers and all the bus devices, you
can start up the redundant control system.
Startup is largely performed using the PLCnext Engineer software.
However, first, a few startup steps need to be performed directly on the device.
7.1
Startup steps on the device
7.1.1
Preparing the first controller

Assign redundancy type “First” to the controller, see

During initial startup, the redundancy role PRIMARY is automatically assigned to the
controller with redundancy type “First”.

In the delivery state, the preset IP addresses for Ethernet interfaces LAN1, LAN2, and
LAN3.1/3.2 are as follows:
– IP address at LAN1: 192.168.1.10
– IP address at LAN2: 192.168.2.10
– IP address at LAN3.1/LAN3.2: 192.168.3.10
In redundancy operation, the preset IP addresses are used as the system IP address of the
respective Ethernet interface.

If necessary, change the preset system IP addresses via the display of the first control

Please note:
The system IP addresses of interfaces LAN1, LAN2, and LAN3.1/3.2 must be in dif

ferent subnets.
Alternatively, following initial startup, you can also set the system IP addresses via the
PLCnext Engineer software or the controller WBM.
