SECTION VII
OPERATIONAL FEATURES
EXTENSION TO EXTENSION CALL
Each of the extensions in the SBX system is allocated a 2 digit number. Dialling an extension number
will cause the dialled extension to ring with internal call cadence. The prime extension is hardware
fixed and this extension may be called using a single digit number.
EXTENSION TO TRUNK LINE CALL
Each extension can be programmed for access to selected trunk lines.
Access to a trunk line is achieved by dialling:
(1)
The trunk access code, with associated lines being allocated on a cyclic basis.
(2)
Older 4 switch trunk boards only have Dial “1” digit access to only central office trunks.
Mard 3 (16 switch) trunk boards can have access of “1”, “31”, “32”, “33” to either Central
exchange, Parented, VHF or Manual exchange.
INCOMING CALL
Any incoming call being signalled either on the system bell or the Prime Ext may be picked up at any
extension with appropriate COS by that extension going off hook and dialling 2 if using the older 4
switch trunk board or the Mark 3 trunk board may be programmed for Dial 2 universal pickup or
individual trunk pickup via 21 – 25 for trunks 1 – 5. If individual trunk pickup is selected, Dial 20
is used for universal pickup. Note: If Dial 20, 21 – 25 pickup is selected on one trunk, all trunks
default to Dial 20, 21 - –5 incoming call pickup. When a mixture of old and new (MK3) trunk boards
are used and the new trunk boards are programmed for Dial 20, 21 – 25 incoming call pickup then the
trunks associated with the older trunk boards also have Dial 20, 21 – 25 incoming call pickup.
DIRECT INCOMING CALL PICKUP
Incoming calls may be routed to the mains-fail extensions associated with incoming call line. Under
these circumstances an incoming call will ring its associated mains-fail telephone’s bell. On going
off-hook that extension will be directly connected to the incoming call.
If after a further 10 seconds the call is still unanswered, the system bell will be rung.
If an incoming call to a direct answer phone is switched to the prime extension or system bell,
subsequent incoming calls go immediately to the prime extension or system bell. This is reset by the
direct answer extension going off-hook.
A direct answer enabled telephone will only directly answer calls on its associated line.
