2.5 POWERING
UP
After power up, the camera will boot. One of the first things
it will do is to start a self-test. After successful completion
of this test, the bootprocedure continues in one of two
different ways:
•
a host can connect to the camera to download an
application over the Ethernet interface (see also the
next paragraph for the IP number that needs to be set
for this). After completion the downloaded program
starts execution.
•
the Dica 220 is configured to start an embedded user-
program that is stored in flash-memory.
2.5.1 IP
Number
During power up, the camera is assigned an IP number.
The Dica 220 camera will use the following steps to
determine which IP number will be used:
1.
DHCP
(default: enabled)
When this option is enabled, the camera checks if a
DHCP server is available by making a request on the
network. When no response is given the next step will
be used.
2.
Auto IP address
(default: disabled)
This protocol is similar to DHCP but it does not require
a DHCP server. When Auto IP is enabled all devices
on the network will make sure they get a unique IP
address by communicating with each other.
3.
Fixed IP address
(default: disabled)
The camera is assigned a fixed IP address. This
address can be set directly in the camera.
4.
Local IP address
(default: enabled)
When all previous options fail, the camera will create
an IP address based on the device ID of the camera.
Because the device ID is in the range 1 .. 127, this
results in an IP address in the range: 192.168.10.1 to
192.168.10.127. When more than one Dica 220
camera has the same device ID, then this will result in
the two cameras having the same IP address, which
results in a conflict on the network. Factory default a
Dica 220 has device ID 1, resulting in the IP address
192.168.10.1.
These options can be enabled or disabled individually (with
the exception of the local IP address) and can be
configured with the ‘Flash File Manager’-tool that is part of
the supporting software packages.
2.5.2
System LED
The System LED is situated next to the Ethernet
connector. This System LED can illuminate in 3 colours:
red, green and orange. Immediately after connecting the
power to the Dica the LED illuminates red, followed by
orange. Next a self-test is started during which the LED will
blink green (2 times/sec) and continues to blink green (1
time/sec) when this test is successful. If this self-test fails
the LED will start to blink red constantly.
If the Dica has booted successfully, the host can download
an application or a stored user-application will start. When
the application starts the hardware test is repeated so the
LED will blink green. It the test passes the LED will
