Configuring relays
Plus Touch has six relays that can be configured for any of the following functions:
Not used
: the relay is always open/off. This is the default.
Cooling
: the relay controls cooling equipment, such as a fan, and switches on when temperatures
are above the set point.
Duty cycle (cooling)
: the relay controls cooling equipment and switches on and then off for
specified durations when temperatures are above the set point.
Heating
: the relay controls heating equipment, such as an electric heater, and switches on when
temperatures are below the set point.
Duty cycle (heating)
: the relay controls heating equipment and switches on and then off for
specified durations when temperatures are below the set point.
Inlet with feedback
: the relay controls a motor that opens and closes and requires feedback to
know its position. This configuration requires two relays, one for open and one for close. An
example is an actuator.
Inlet without feedback
: the relay controls a motor that opens and closes, but does not require
feedback. This configuration requires two relays, one for open and one for close. An example is
a curtain machine.
Follow
: the relay controls equipment that is on when a selected relay or variable stage is on.
Configuring relays for inlet actuators or curtains
Inlets, curtains, and similar equipment are opened and closed to let in more air or less air. The idea is
that more air cools the building. You can configure up to two of these types of equipment. Each
requires one relay for opening and one for closing.
If the equipment requires feedback to determine its position, configure it as “Inlet with
feedback”. This is called an actuator in Plus Touch.
If the equipment does not require feedback, configure it as “Inlet without feedback”. This is
called a curtain.
Inlet 1 uses relay 1 to open and relay 2 to close the inlet. Inlet 2 uses relay 3 to
open and relay 4 to close.
You configure one of the relay pairs, Plus Touch automatically configures the
other. For example, if you configure relay 1 for inlet 1, relay 2 will be
automatically configured.
