Taking Still Pictures
The standard procedure for taking still pictures is described below. The
flash discharges automatically depending on the light conditions.
1
Press the power switch.
The camera turns on and is ready to take still pictures. In this manual,
this is called the capture mode.

Compose the picture on the display.
The camera will automatically focus on the area within the focus frame.
You can change the captured area by pressing the Zoom button.

: enlarges the subject

: widens the area captured by the camera

Press the shutter release button
halfway.
The color of the focus frame indicates whether
the camera focuses clearly on the subject or not.
Green : The subject is in focus.
White : The subject is out of focus.
Hold the shutter release button and wait until
the focus frame turns green.
When the [Focusing Area] is set to

Rec. Mode] menu (p.78), the focus frame turns green if the
subject is in focus, and the focus frame remains white even if the
subject is out of focus.
