Taking Pictures
When you have difficulty in auto focusing on a subject, try the
procedures below.
1
Find alternate subject that is in the same distance from
the camera as the desired subject.

Focus on the alternate subject.
Locate it in the focus frame on the display.

Press the shutter release button halfway.
The focus frame turns green when the alternate subject is in focus.

While holding the shutter release button halfway, move
the camera to obtain the desired composition.
The focus is locked at the point you set in Step 3 even if you
recompose. (Focus lock)

Press the shutter release button fully.
• When the focus mode is set to

(Standard), the Auto-Macro
function is available. When the subject is closer than approx. 50
cm (1.56 ft) from the camera, the camera automatically focuses on
the subject within the focus range of

(Macro).

Focus lock
You may have difficulty in auto focusing on such subjects as:
• Subject contrast is very weak. (blue sky, solid white (Macro) wall, etc.)
• Dark places, black object, or subject that does not reflect light.
• Subject with strong reflected light, or strong backlight.
• Object with a fine pattern
• Rapidly moving objects
• When a distant object and a close object are both in the focus frame.
