How to Adjust the Main Tape Tension Adjustment Roller …
Note:
Adjustment of the Main Tape Tension Roller affects the amount to "pull" on the
tape (i.e., more "pull" is necessary for heavier, corrugated packages and less for
lighter, corrugated packages). This adjustment also improves 'wipe-down" and
cutoff characteristics.
1.
To increase the tension of the Main Tape Tension Adjustment Roller, tighten
the center nut.
2.
To decrease the tension of the Main Tape Tension Adjustment Roller, release
the center nut.
Important:
The Main Tape Tension Adjustment Roller is used to prevent back
spin in the tape after it is cut. This roller only spins one way. Verify
this feature is working by trying to turn the roller backwards by
hand; it should not reverse turn.
3.
The tensioning of the Main Tape Tension Adjustment Roller should be set so
that it can be turned by hand.
a.
If it is too stiff to turn, it may cause excessive tape force to be applied to
the box.
b.
Check other settings as adjustments may be needed depending on box
stiffness or tape type (particularly unwind tension).
How to Adjust the Main Wipe-down Roller Tension Spring
Note:
The main roller tension spring provides wipe-down force at the front and rear
wipe-down rollers. This action rolls the tape onto the box as it is being dispensed.
1.
Locate the main spring hook in once of the four anchor slots to make the
adjustment from lightest to heaviest.
a.
Heaviest is generally used for heavy, stiff corrugated boxes.
b.
Lightest is generally used for light duty corrugated boxes.
