Field

Description

Static Route

Defines static routing rules for the LAN segment.
A static route consists of the network address, subnet mask and gateway address.
The address and subnet mask values are in the format of

w.x.y.z

.

The local LAN subnet and subnets behind the LAN will be advertised to the VPN.
Remote routes sent over the VPN will also be accepted. Any VPN member will be
able to route to the local subnets.

DNS Caching

Enables DNS Caching on the built-in DNS proxy server. When enabled, queried
DNS replies will be cached until the records’ Time To Live (TTL) limit has been
reached. This feature can help improve the DNS lookup time. However, it cannot
return the most updated result for frequently updated DNS records.

Use Google DNS
Server as Backup

Check the box to enable the Google DNS feature, and the BD1000 will automati-
cally use the Google DNS Server as a backup DNS server. The DNS proxy server
will forward DNS requests to Google's Public DNS Servers in case all of the WAN
connections' DNS servers become unavailable.

Local DNS Records

Defines custom local DNS records.
A static local DNS record consists of a Host Name and an IP Address. When look-
ing up the Host Name from the LAN to LAN IP of the BD1000, the corresponding IP
Address will be returned.
