Holding the nosecone, twist chuck open/close ring in the direction indicated

by the black arrow until the chuck clicks open and pull the bur blank out.

Bur

- Insert bur spindle into chuck all the way until the spindle touches the back

- Place the nosecone upward so that the inserted bur does not slide down and

then twist the chuck open/close ring in the direction indicated by the white

arrow until the chuck clicks shut.

- Make sure that the bur is securely installed onto the nosecone, pulling the

bur with fingers.

U-type prophy/contra angles

- Insert spindle into chuck all the way until the back-end of the U-type

attachment contacts the shoulder of the

nose, aligning the slit at the back-end of

the U-type attachment with protuberance

on the nose.

- Twist chuck open/close ring in the

direction indicated by the white arrow

until the chuck clicks shut.

 • Never install a U-type attachment with a bent spindle or a damaged

bur, etc., onto the nosecone. Such a spindle or bur may not only injure

the patient but critically damage the nosecone.

 • Never install a non-ISO standard bur or U-type attachment with a

non-ISO standard spindle.

 • Never open/close the chuck without installing the instrument onto the

nosecone, as the chuck retaining intensity may be prematurely

reduced.

 • Never use the nosecone, if the U-type attachment or bur cannot be

installed securely.

In such cases, consult the Patterson Service

Center.

3. Installation/Removal of Nosecone from/onto motor and Operation

- Make sure that the motor onto which the nosecone is connected is an ISO

E-type.

- Insert the back-end of the nosecone into the motor.

- Make sure that the nosecone is securely installed onto the motor by pulling

it gently with fingers before use.

Caution

 • If the nosecone cannot be smoothly installed/removed onto/from the

motor or if the nosecone rattles after installation, do not use the

nosecone.

 • Stop using the air-motor whenever any abnormality in performance,

sound level, heat level, etc., is sensed in use.

In such cases, consult the Patterson Service Center

Warning

 • Never dismantle or alter the nosecone.

 • Never run the nosecone above 40,000rpm.

4. Cleaning and Drying

The nosecone must be cleaned and lubricated after each use and before

autoclaving.

- Remove the nosecone from the motor. Remove the bur or U-type

attachment used.

Cleaning and Drying the Exterior

Wash the nosecone under running water following the procedures below.

(Water condition: ≤100°F, ≥3.5L/min; water should be of the same quality as

drinking water)

- Clean the external surfaces of the

nosecone with a soft bristled toothbrush

for 15 seconds or more.

- Clean around the bur insertion hole for 15

seconds or more, using an interdental

brush (wire thickness 0.7mm) that

conforms to size 4 in ISO 16409.

Under appropriate lighting (natural office

lighting, 500 lx or higher), inspect the

nosecone for blood or other debris. If any

visible debris remains, repeat the process

until the nosecone is visually clean.

After cleaning, if the residual moisture is present, wipe off with dry cloth or

blow it off with compressed air (≤50.75psi) until there is no moisture in the

interior and exterior.

When blowing off with compressed air, cover the nosecone with cloth to

prevent scattering of water. Proceed to 5: Cleaning and Lubrication.

5. Cleaning and Lubrication

Cleaning and Lubricating the Interior

- Attach an E-Type spray nozzle to the

nozzle of the PANA SPRAY Plus.

- Shake the can 3 or 4 times and insert the

E-Type spray nozzle into the rear of the

nosecone while holding the head of the

nosecone with a cloth etc.

- Hold the nosecone and spray for 2 or 3

seconds until oil comes out of the nosecone tip. Repeat lubrication until

foreign material stops coming out of the tip.

6. Sterilization

Autoclave is recommended for sterilization.

- Be sure to lubricate the nosecone before sterilization, following step 5:

Cleaning and Lubrication.

- Autoclave 275 ˚F for 20 minutes.

7. Warranty

Patterson guarantees the Patterson nosecone for 10 months subject to the

observance of maintenance instructions, cautions, warnings and normal use.

Note:

- Patterson reserves the right to analyze and determine the cause of any

failure.

- Guarantee is void if breakage, accident or any other issues are caused by

neglecting daily maintenance, cautions, warnings, or any other misuse and

common sense in use.

- Dismantling or reassembling by any third parties other than the Patterson

Service Center voids guarantee.

• Do not use sprays other than PANA SPRAY Plus. Using sprays other

than PANA SPRAY Plus may cause the nosecone to overheat.

• Hold the spray can upright.

• Firmly hold the nosecone to prevent it slipping when spray pressure is

applied.

• Spray lubricant until it expels from the nosecone tip.

Caution

 • Put the nosecone into a sterilization pouch by itself.

 • Never use dry heat sterilization, cold sterilization, etc.

 • Never autoclave the nosecone combined with others in the same

sterilization pouch.

 • Never place the nosecone at the bottom of an autoclave chamber, as

the temperature may rise above the actual setting temperature.
