5. SEMI-AUTOMATIC WELDING (SA «MIG/MAG»)
The machine can act as a source of arc current for semi-automatic welding. To
do this, it has the necessary current-voltage characteristic at the power terminals
output when switching to this mode. Absolutely any independent feed unit
operating at a specific supply voltage of an integrated motor can be used as an
external wire feeder. For this, it must have its own power source, or powered from
the source voltage (this is a less priority option, since very rarely such systems have
a good and stable wire feed).
Warning! In the simplest case, carbon dioxide gas CO2 is used as a protective gas
for welding ferrous metals, while only aluminum inert gases such as argon "Ar",
sometimes expensive gas helium "He", are used for aluminum welding. For
stainless and high alloy steels mixtures in various proportions "80%Ar+20%CO2"
are used. The use of other gases - only after the equipment manufacturer approval.
The procedure for preparing to work when welding with
solid wire:
- to insert the “ground” terminal cable into the source B “ - ” socket;
- to connect the "ground" terminal to the product;
- a prefabricated power jumper with a cable cross-section of at least 25 mm

be connected to the source socket A “+”, and the second end to the power
terminal of the wire feed mechanism (and it is individual in each particular case);
- to connect the semi-automatic welding burner to the wire feeder;
- to install the reducer on the gas cylinder with the protective gas "CO2", "Ar" or
"Ar+CO2";
- to connect the gas hose to the gas cylinder reducer and to the nipple on the wire
feeder (the method of connection may be different);
- to open the gas cylinder valve, check the tightness;
- to connect the power supply plug to the power mains;
- to connect the power supply of the wire feeder to the power mains (if a
mechanism with independent power is used);
- to turn on the feeder with its own switch;
