Interrupting the Starter Wires
In order to complete the installation, the vehicle's starter solenoid wire must be cut. The starter wire is
the only wire in the vehicle that is actually cut. This wire runs from the ignition switch to the starter
solenoid in the engine compartment. To locate this wire, use a multi-meter to find the wire with 12
volts on it
only
in the start (crank) position. This wire should be traced back to the vehicle's fire-wall
and cut about six (6) inches from where the wire passes through to the engine compartment.
It is important to note that after the starter wire has been cut, and you are connecting the blue
and purple wires from the PassTime harness, that PassTimes purple wire is connected the
solenoid, or starter side of the wire, and PassTimes blue wire is connected to the Key side of
the wire, or the side of the starter wire that runs up the key.
If you are unable to solder the wires, connectors have been provided. It is very important that you
tape the wires and all of the connections, thereby restoring the original look to the wiring harness.
This "factory" look will make it more difficult for a thief to locate the starter connections.
