Allison TC10
Installation Instructions
NOTE: The PTO Provision is optional for the Allison TC10. All Allison TC10
Transmissions have a PTO pad and cover located on the rear cover. The Allison
TC10 includes the PTO drive shaft if the PTO option is ordered with the
transmission. If the transmission does not have optional PTO provision, the PTO
adapter can be added (Contact Allison).
For all PTO installations, the Allison 5th Generation Controls’ PTO Drive
Interface must be integrated into the installation of the PTO control.
Mounting the PTO on the Allison TC10
When installing a PTO, always wear protective clothing and safety glasses.
WARNING: Oil may be hot. Use extreme caution to assure that you do not
accidentally come in contact with hot oil.
1. Drain transmission oil before removing the rear aperture plate. After draining
transmission fluid reinstall plug.
2. Remove the PTO rear aperture plate with an 18 mm socket.
3. Remove the O-Ring and clean the aperture surface.
NOTE: Do not reuse the O-Ring that comes with the transmission cover plate.
4. Install studs (
12) to the transmission as shown.
CAUTION: Do not bottom studs in holes.
5. Install until shoulder is approximately one or two threads from the trasmission
mounting surface.
NOTE: To verify correct installation, measure from end of stud to transmission
mounting surface. Correct length should be between 1.3 - 1.4 in [33 - 35.5 mm].
6. Prior to mounting the PTO install pressure switch into Power Take-Off –
Torque to 10 - 12 lbs-ft [13 - 16 Nm]
7. Mount PTO to transmission using O-Ring ( 10) and the flange nuts (13)
provided with Power Take-Off.
8. Position the PTO solenoid between 3 o’clock and 6 o’clock position
when viewed from rear ( 14).
9. Tighten and torque flange nuts (
13) in a crossing pattern to
50 - 60 lbs-ft [75-81 Nm]
