Chapter 2 – Overview
2.6.2 Number and character entry
Enter letters, numbers, and symbols much like you would enter letters using the
numeric keypad of a telephone.
To enter an alphanumeric value using the soft keys

Repeatedly press the appropriate soft key until the desired letter, number, or symbol appears.

If the next character that you want to enter is on the
same
soft key, wait for the cursor to move
over one space and then repeat step 1 for the next character.
If the next character that you want to enter is on a
different
soft key, you may begin to press
that key immediately. The cursor moves over to the next space instantly.

Repeat the above steps to enter the complete alphanumeric value; then press the
Enter
soft
key to finish.
If you enter the wrong character, use the
Backspace
soft key to delete it.
If you want to cancel out of alphanumeric value entry, press the
ESC
soft key.
NOTE
You can also use a USB keyboard for alphanumeric entry.

To enter the letter “D”

Press the
ABCDEF
soft key four times.
To enter the label “TECH 1”

Press the
STUVWXYZ
soft key two times, so that a
T
appears above the cursor.

Press the
ABCDEF
soft key five times, so that an
E
appears above the cursor.

Wait for the cursor to move right one space.

Press the
ABCDEF
soft key three times, so that a
C
appears above the cursor.

Press the
GHIJK
soft key two times, so that an
H
appears above the cursor.

Press the
Rotate
key twice, so that the
Space
soft key appears over soft key 2.

Press the
Space
soft key.

Press the
Rotate
key one time, so that the
12345
soft key appears over soft key 2.

Press the
12345
soft key once, so that a
1
appears above the cursor.
10 Press the
Enter
soft key to save your entry.
