Monitoring and Troubleshooting
Overview
During operation of the BitStorm 2400, it is possible that errors may occur.
Symptoms and possible solutions are presented in this section to help
troubleshoot problems that may arise.
Table A-1 lists problems at startup.
Table A-2 lists problems after you first turn the unit on.
Table A-1. Initial Startup Problems
Symptom Possible Problem Possible Solutions
Power Cord is connected
to switch, but all LEDs,
including the POWER
LED, are off No power to switch Check that both ends of the power cord are securely
connected to the power source and power socket on the unit.
Verify power at the source using a voltage meter.
If power is being delivered to the power socket but no LEDs
are lit, the unit may have a faulty power supply. Contact your
reseller.

Perform the following tasks in the following order:

Make sure the connectors at both ends of the cable are
securely seated.

Make sure the cable is not physically damaged. If it is
damaged, replace it with a similar cable.

Make sure you are using the right type of cable
(Straight-through or crossover).
!
Check the cable specifications to make sure the cable you
are using complies.
Improperly functioning
network interface card
(NIC) on PC or
workstation Run the diagnostic supplied by the vendor on the NIC to make
sure it is functioning properly. If it is not, replace it.
If the problem continues after these checks, call your reseller.
