Row (Rack) Cooling Units
The image below depicts a data center cooling method called row (or rack) cooling. In
this method, the unit’s location is in between the racks or at the end of a rack row, and
provides cold (supply) air in an open aisle configuration, hot aisle capture, or cold aisle
capture. Depending on the rack configurations in the data center, the supply (cold) air is
front discharge (cold/hot aisle captures) or side discharge (open aisle). Placements of
the return/supply sensors follow the same methods as traditional CRACs and CRAHs.
The image below depicts the Stulz version for row/rack cooling.
To install a sensor kit in a Row Cooling unit, follow these instructions.
1. Route and install the supply sensor.
a. From the fan side of the unit, route the supply sensor to the area between the
filter and the coils. Use unit’s existing wire pathway as a guide.
b. Install the supply sensor underneath the unit’s control valve and secure with
a cable clip.
c. Make sure sensor placement is in the supply airflow path.
d. Route supply wire to the top of the unit using cable clips as needed.
