3.2.4- SMART Redox Probe Kit (opcional in SMARTCLORO PLUS PH
serie equipment)
The equipment conti nuously measures the bactericide level of water through this probe, by means of a
“Redox” probe. Simply adjust the required level and the equipment automati cally maintains the level of
disinfecti on by adjusti ng the producti on of chlorine to the real needs of the swimming pool.
The screen shows the “Redox” level (bactericide capacity) present in the swimming pool.
The potenti al RedOx (Reduced Oxidati on) or ORP (Oxidati on Reducti on
Potenti al) is the electrical voltage that indicates the oxidati on capacity or
reducti on of a soluti on. In swimming pools, the oxidati on capacity is directly
related to the bactericide power of the water, which is directly related to the
concentrati on of free chlorine in the pool.
This probe enables you to adjust the equipment in AUTOMATIC operati ng mode.

Amperometric analysis consists of measuring the intensity of current generated in the reducti on or
oxidati on reacti on of an analyte once a suitable electric potenti al is applied.
Current intensity is proporti onal to the amount of hypochlorous acid present in the soluti on.
Bear in mind that hypochlorous acid is a weak acid and as such its distributi on depends on the pH of
the medium. Not only does hypochlorous acid respond to the working potenti al of the amperometric
sensor, but the hypochlorite also reacts. It is therefore advisable to compensate the response of the
sensor depending on the pH value at the middle point, within the range from pH 7.0 to 7.4. Outside
these ranges of pH, side reacti ons occur on the surface of the electrode which prevent the readings
generated from being corrected.

3.2.5.2- Installation
The sensor should be installed where a constant fl ow
of water is guaranteed, without the possibility for
forming air bubbles in the measuring cell.
It is recommended to install it in the Multi functi on
sensor holder (ref. 44-020), which is especially
designed for this applicati on. It includes:

2 Inlet fi lter
3 Sampling device
4 pH sensor housing
5 Amperometric probe housing
