Turn on all equipment connected with HDMI cables and turn on the television
(VIERA).
Set VIERA Link “HDAVI Control” on the television (VIERA) to “OFF” and then
“ON” again. (For more details, read your TV’s (VIERA) operating instructions.)
Connect the unit to your television (VIERA) using the HDMI cable, switch the
television on, unplug the unit’s AC mains lead, and insert it into a household
mains socket again. •

Possible solution
Before requesting service, make the following checks.
If you are in doubt about some of the check points, or if the remedies indicated in the chart do not solve the problem,
consult your dealer for instructions.
No sound in surround mode.
Cannot use Dolby Virtual
Speaker or SFC.
Set to Dolby Virtual Speaker or SFC. •
You cannot use these features with PCM signals with sampling frequency over
48 kHz. Change to analogue connection and input. •

HDMI
The equipment connected by the HDMI cable is not compatible with the unit’s
copyright protection technology. • “U 70-1-1” appears on the
display.

“U 70-1-2” appears on the
display.
The unit is receiving video signals that are incompatible with it through HDMI
connection. Check the settings of the connected equipment. •

“U 70-3” appears on the
display.
A problem has occurred with the HDMI connection. Try the following to correct
the problem. Consult your dealer if the error code remains on the display.

Turn the connected equipment off and on again.
―
Disconnect the HDMI cable then reconnect it.
―
Reduce the number of units connected in a series to the HDMI terminal
(maximum of three units including this one).

When using an HDMI
connection, the first few
seconds of sound is cut off.
This may occur if you start play from a chapter on a DVD. The following will
correct the problem.

Change the audio output setting on the Blu-ray Disc player, DVD recorder or
DVD player from “Bitstream” to “PCM”.

Change input signal setting to
“PCM”
in “Setting input signals”.

The unit does not work properly if you have connected the HDMI input and
output terminals incorrectly. Turn the unit off, unplug the AC mains lead, and
make the connections again. •
The unit does not work

Set the same remote control code for this unit and remote control.
If
“REMOTE 2” is displayed, set remote control code to “2” .

Sound stops.
(
“OVERLOAD” appears on the
display for about a second.) The
protection circuit activates when
some abnormality is detected, and
turns off the unit automatically.
Check that the speaker wires are not shorted (bare wires touching each other).
Straining of the speakers through excessive volume or power.
Using the unit in a hot environment without proper ventilation.
 Determine and correct the cause, then turn the unit on.
(The protection circuit is reset.)
(Consult your dealer if the problem persists.)
