Handset

With the handset buttons facing you, the antenna is a narrow 2.8 inch long protrusion on the top right. On the top of

the handset are two recessed rectangles that secure the handset in the cradle on the base unit when the unit is wall-

mounted. Just below the top on the front of the handset is a shallow oval concave. This is the earpiece. The smooth

surface below the earpiece is the display, its upper edge is defined by a small ridge in the center of the handset below

the earpiece. Immediately below the display, in the center of the handset, is the NAVIGATOR KEY, which is a large

round control with a cross-shaped concave and four active areas. The active areas are at the 12 o’clock, 3 o’clock, 6

o’clock and 9 o’clock positions. The 12 and 6 o’clock positions are the UP and DOWN keys and also control

volume. The 3 and 9 o’clock positions are the RIGHT and LEFT arrow keys. The 3 o’clock position is often used as

‘Save’ key during programming.

To the upper left of the NAVIGATOR KEY, a small circle is the TALK button. An oval below the TALK button is

the SPEAKERPHONE button. To the upper right of the NAVIGATOR KEY, a small circle is the OFF button. An

oval below the OFF button is the HOLD button. The HOLD button is also the INTERCOM or CLEAR button.

Below these buttons is the keypad laid out in the conventional telephone arrangement with a “nib” on the 5 button.

Just below the keypad are three ovals. On the left is the MUTE button. The MUTE button is also the FUNCTION

button. In the center is the FLASH button. The FLASH button is also the CALL WAIT button. On the right is the

PAUSE button. The PAUSE button is also the REDIAL button. The indentation just below the FLASH/CALL WAIT

button is the microphone.
