
6.2.1.2 Incompatible Documents
Do not scan the following types of paper:
•
Cloths or metallic sheets
•
Documents out of specified size, thickness, and weight
•
Photographs
•
Thermal or photosensitive paper
•
Documents containing hard attachments such as metal or plastic (ex. clips or staples)
•
Document with wet ink or cinnabar seal ink
•
Damaged or notched documents
•
Non-rectangular or irregularly shaped paper
•
Glued documents
•
Transparent documents such as OHP sheet, plastic film, etc.
•
Documents with punch holes of 8 mm (0.31 in.) or more.
•
Documents with a punch hole spacing of 20 mm (0.78 in.) or less.
The following types of documents may not scan properly:
•
Chemical paper such as carbonless copy paper
•
Carbon paper
•
Documents with uneven paper thickness (such as envelopes)
•
Coated paper
•
Partially transparent documents such as tracing paper.
•
Curled, wrinkled or folded documents
•
Perforated or punched paper
•
Paper with wood or metal content
•
Extremely smooth, shiny paper, or paper that is highly textured
Note

Paper with a glossy surface such as coated paper or photographs are susceptible to damage such as
scratching.
•
Scanning the following kinds of documents may contaminate the inside of the scanner or adversely
influence the lifetime of the rollers. When scanning the following kinds of documents, clean the inside
of the scanner frequently.
–
Documents with toner or graphite (pencil) powder
–
Documents treated chemically or containing impurities
–
Coated paper
–
Carbon paper
