Aurora H2O User’s Manual

4.2.5 Device Discovery

The Digi module used for Ethernet connectivity supports Digi's ADDP (

Advanced Device Discovery Protocol

). ADDP

uses UDP port 2362 and a multicast IP address of 224.0.5.128. You will need to enable these on your firewall for the

ADDP protocol to work for the device discovery utility.
Digi provides two utilities,

Digi Device Discovery

(for Microsoft Windows only), and

Digi Port Authority

(available for

Microsoft Windows, AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, and many Linux distributions). These utilities can be downloaded from the Digi

support web site at:

http://www.digi.com/support/.

After the utility is installed, the Aurora H2O connected to the LAN,

and the Ethernet option enabled,

Device Discovery

will identify it (see

Figure 45

below):

Advanced configuration may then be performed by opening a web browser or telnet session to the IP address listed

for the Aurora H2O. See

Appendix B. “Aurora H2O Ethernet Operation”

for detailed instructions.

Note:

The Ethernet module is not enabled and the Aurora H2O will not be visible on the network until the Aurora

completes laser startup.
