Workplace
•
Keep the workplace free of flammable materials.
•
Always make sure there is a fire extinguisher within reach.
•
Only qualified persons may operate the equipment.
•
Ensure the workplace is clean, dry and well ventilated. Do not use the
equipment in humid, wet or poorly ventilated areas.
•
Ensure that the equipment is maintained by qualified technicians, cf. local and
national regulations.
•
Always exercise caution in relation to your surroundings. When welding, keep
other people at a safe distance, especially children.
•
Ensure that people in the area do not look directly at the welding arc.
•
Mount the welding apparatus on a safe bench or trolley and ensure that the
equipment cannot tip or fall over.
The condition of the equipment
•
Inspect the earth cable, power cable and welding cable to ensure that the
insulation is intact. Always replace or repair damaged elements before taking
the welding apparatus into use.
•
Inspect all of the elements to ensure that they are in a good condition before
taking the equipment into use.
Equipment use
WARNING
Never use the equipment if the cables, electrodes, wire or wire feeder are wet.
Never lower the equipment in water – the above-mentioned elements and
even the equipment must always be dry before it is taken into use.
•
Follow the instructions in the manual.
•
Switch off the equipment when not in use.
•
Connect the earth cable as closely as possible to the site that is to be welded to
ensure a good earth connection.
•
Do not allow any body part to come into contact with the welding wire if you
have physical contact with the workpiece, earth or electrode from another
welding apparatus.
