MAINTENANCE
NOTE!
Some outboards are equipped with a
Nyloc locking nut (1) and do not have a cotter
pin. Do
NOT
reuse a Nyloc locking nut!
NOTE!
Some models use a retainer
(1)
and
a castlelated nut
(2)
combined with a
cotter pin
(3)
.
6.
Tighten the propeller nut to the specified
torque.
Propeller nut tightening torque:
75.0 Nm (55.6 ft-lb).
7.
Align the propeller nut with the propeller
shaft hole. Insert a new cotter pin in the
hole and bend the cotter pin ends.
NOTE!
Do not reuse the cotter pin installed.
Otherwise the propeller can come off during
operation.
NOTE!
If the propeller nut does not align with
the propeller shaft hole after tightening to the
specified torque, tighten the nut further to align
it with the hole.
Ensure that the propeller is undamaged and
rotates freely of the lower housing.
NOTE!
Always have an extra propeller including
necessary tools on board.
