KUBB INSTRUCTIONS:
Game rules:
The game can be played with two single players, or two teams and can be played anywhere; on
grass, gravel or sand.
Objective:
To overthrow all basistowers of the opponent team, and finally the king.
Preparations:
Mark a playing field ( 5 x 10 meters) with the four pins. Place the king in the middle of the playing field (see illustrati
-
on). The basic towers of each team will be positioned on the baseline.
The game:
All sticks will be thrown underhand from behind the own baseline.
To start, each team throws one stick as close as possible near the king (without hitting the king). The team that is closest to the
king is the first to play (team A). The objective is to overthrow as many basic towers from team B as possible, using the 6 sticks.
Team B will throw all the basic towers that are overthrown on the playing field half of team A. These basic towers will be placed on
the position where they land. If team B does not succeed in throwing the knocked down basic towers on the half of team A, then
team A may position these basic towers anywhere they like (not closer to the king as the length of a stick). Now it’s team B is on turn
to throw the sticks. Before team B can overthrow the basic towers of team A, all basic towers that were positioned on the playing
field
half of team A must be overthrown (these are now field towers). If team B does not succeed in overthrowing all of the field towers,
team A may move its baseline forward to the position of a field tower that has not been overthrown. As soon as this tower is
overthrown, the baseline moves back to its original position. After team B has thrown its sticks, the turn goes back to team A and
the game will be played along the same way.
If a team accidentally overthrows a basic tower before all field towers are down, this doesn’t count and the tower will be placed
up again. If a team has overthrown all field- and basic towers form the opponent team, this team may try to overthrow the King.
This must be done from behind the original baseline. Attention: a team may
attempt to overthrow the king if they have at least two sticks again.
The team that overthrows the king first wins the game. If the king is knocked down accidentally before all field- and basic tower
are down, the opponent team wins the game.
