1 Intended Use
The 743G5 Hip Cast Casting Apparatus in combination with the 743A11 Casting Apparatus is
to be
exclusively
used for the plaster cast technique on patients with hip disarticulation. It is used
for the fabrication of a plaster negative under load, for a hip disarticulation socket. By using the
proven 743Y26 Pressure Blocks, the stop position for a modular hip joint is predetermined and
taking a plaster cast of the pelvis is standardized.
In conformity with the proven SIT Cast casting technique, special silicone casting forms encom-
pass the ramus and position it in the middle of the support plate.
The Hip Cast Casting Apparatus is a practical alternative to the manual plaster cast technique
and can also be used on site, e.g. in the clinic, at the patient’s home, etc.
2 Safety Instructions
Attention!
The patient must have sufficient standing ability and use a standing aid such as a stan-
ding support or two forearm crutches during the entire procedure.
It is recommended that two orthopedic technicians take the plaster cast.
During assembly of the 743G5 Hip Cast Casting Apparatus in combination with the 743A11
Casting Apparatus, make sure that the plug connection is inserted up to the stop and secured
with the clamping screw.
Adjust the height of the 743A11 Casting Apparatus to the distance between the ischial tuberos-
ity and the floor measured on the patient and secure it with the set screw.
Then, using the attached bubble level, adjust the height-adjustable support of the 743G5 Hip
Cast Casting Apparatus so that the support plate is horizontal. Make sure to tighten the clamping
screw of the support after completing the adjustment.
