5 Scope of Delivery
The scope of delivery (product components and quantities
1
) is shown in the illustrations
8
and
9
on pages 8 and 9. Only product components with article numbers
2
can be ordered
separately.
6 Preparation for Use
6.1 Information on Fabrication of a Prosthesis
CAUTION
Incorrect alignment, assembly or adjustment
Injuries due to incorrectly installed or adjusted as well as damaged prosthetic components
►
Observe the alignment, assembly and adjustment instructions.
CAUTION
Initial use of the prosthesis by the patient
Fall due to lack of patient experience, incorrect alignment or incorrect adjustment of the pros
thesis
►
For the safety of the patient, use a suitable device (e.g. parallel bars, handrail, wheeled
walker) during initial standing and walking.
The alignment and adjustments are mainly completed in the following steps:
1. Bench alignment of the prosthesis (see Page 44)
2. Optimising the static alignment (see Page 47)
3. Optimising during dynamic trial fitting (see Page 47)
These steps are first carried out with a test prosthesis in order to determine the best possible
combination and positioning of the prosthetic components relative to each other. Once all set
tings have been tailored to the patient, the definitive prosthesis is produced. The same steps are
repeated for this purpose.
In dynamic trial fitting, the patient must be given sufficient time to become familiar with the func
tions of the prosthesis, thereby learning safe use for everyday life.
6.2 Bench alignment of the prosthesis
INFORMATION
The prosthetic components and prosthesis shown in the illustrations are used as examples to
illustrate the general process. The instructions for use of the prosthetic components selected for
the patient contain detailed information and have to be used for fabrication of the prosthesis.
►
CAUTION!
To enable the patient to stand safely, align the prosthesis using the alignment
images for the sagittal plane (see Fig.
10
on page 10 –
1
alignment line,
2
prosthetic foot,
3
prosthetic knee,
4
prosthetic socket) and for the frontal plane (see Fig.
11
on page 10 –
1
alignment line,
2
prosthetic foot,
3
prosthetic knee,
4
prosthetic socket) and the follow
ing subsections.
INFORMATION:
Using an alignment apparatus
1
with lasers
2
is recommended for bench
alignment. The retaining bits
3
are used to clamp the prosthetic knee joint in the knee bracket
4
(see Fig.
12
on page 11).
6.2.1 Activating and deactivating lock
►
NOTICE!
To avoid damage to the prosthesis during deactivation and activation of the lock, put
the prosthetic joint in flexion (≥90°).
►
If the prosthetic socket
1
is used without a lock slide, deactivate the lock according to
figure
13
on page 11.
