4 Installation Instructions
4.1 Initial Set-Up
INFORMATION
Make sure you carefully measure for length, accounting for all components, before cutting pylon
length. Final assembly should be conducted only after patient acceptance.
The 1E58 should be used in conjunction with a footshell. However, during the initial fitting, the
1E58 can be used with or without a footshell. If fitting with a footshell, apply Spectra Sock to
foot and insert into footshell, then lock heel securely into slot.
• If fitting without footshell, bond included crepe to plantar surface of prosthesis with 636W65=0.800
Contact Adhesive (do not use a Spectra Sock in this case).
• When under load, the Pylon at final heel height should have an anterior lean of 0-2°. Enclosed
crepe may be used on plantar surface of heel or forefoot to adjust pylon vertical alignment.
Insert into patient’s shoe to compensate for heel height.
4.2 Adapter Assembly
The Axtion DP is attached to prosthetic systems with either a set screw style adapter (2R183, Fig.
2 or 2R183=L) or side bolt style adapter (4R431=* or 4R432=*, Fig. 3). The Axtion DP is attached
to the prosthesis either through an adapter with set screws (2R183, Fig. 2 or 2R183=L) or adapter
screwed laterally (4R431=* or 4R432=*, Fig. 3). Please follow the appropriate directions below.
4.2.1 For set screw style adapters
(Fig. 2)
Apply silicone grease inside pylon adapter. Next, install pylon adapter onto pylon until fully seated.
Tighten the two 8 mm pylon adapter set screws (Fig.2, Pos. B) and torque to 80 in-lbs (9Nm). If
using tube clamp adapters, slide tube over pylon adapter and torque the 5 mm tube clamp bolt
(Fig.2, Pos. A) to 45 in-lbs (5 Nm).
4.2.2 For side bolt style adapters
(Fig. 3)
Apply silicone grease inside pylon adapter. Next, install the 4-hole adapter onto pylon until fully
seated. Tighten side bolts to 40 in-lbs (4.5 Nm).
a. If using 4-hole adapter with threaded fitting (e.g. 4R431=1), install modular adapter (e.g. 4R51)
to attachment fitting with four enclosed M6x20mm flat head screws. Torque to 90 in-lbs. (10 Nm).
