INDICATION FOR USE
• Mild to moderate unicompartmental osteoarthritis.
• Normal activities of daily living.
• Can also be used for degenerative meniscal tears that benefit from
unloading.
CAUTION
For patients with peripheral vascular disease, neuropathy, and sensitive
skin, close physician supervision is recommended. If redness appears
decrease the usage of the brace. Increase usage slowly as skin adapts to
the brace.
The Unloader
®
FIT is field adaptable to relieve knee pain. Modifications
to flexion/extension stops, DFS straps, and shell contour, should only be
made by a certified practicioner.
INITIAL APPLICATION AND ADJUSTMENT

• Pull out dial to release.
• Place hands on hinge and proximal edge and gently pull brace up
over knee.

• Align the brace on patient's leg with patella centered within
kneecap mark.
Figure 4: Calf Strap
• Trim strap as needed by detaching alligator clip, cutting to ideal
length and reattaching clip. Tighten above thickest part of calf muscle.
Ensure brace does not rotate on leg while tightening.
Figure 5: DFS Straps
• Press SmartDosing dial and rotate clockwise until Strap Adjustment
Clip is at the 0 mark.
• With patient in standing position, adjust the length of both DFS
straps by detaching them from the strap adjustment clips, and
trimming to appropriate length, then re-attach. Appropriate length is
a snug fit without tension.
• Tighten DFS straps by rotating SmartDosing dial clockwise, with
patient in standing position and knee slightly bent.
• A Correct DFS strap length will contribute to the right amount of
unloading with SmartDosing setting around 5. This will allow the user
to add or reduce tension as needed during daily use.
• If SmartDosing dial has been adjusted to the maximum setting (10)
and patient requires more pain relief, DFS straps need to be
shortened further.

• Verify positioning of brace when adjustment procedure has
been completed
