Unlike the other two modes, Characterization Mode allows you to 

Stop

ReStart

 counting without clearing 

the data buffer. If you have downloaded and evaluated a data set and need more count time, tap 

ReStart

. 

The program will ask if you wish to continue data collection or clear the previous count; choose to continue. 
At the end of the additional count time, 

Download

 again.  

When satisfied with the data set, you can choose to email the resulting 

2A.log

 file to the contact discussed 

in Section 3.5.

3.4.1 

Advanced Characterization Mode 

Advanced Characterization is similar to Characterization Data Collect; however, whereas the latter collects 
data using a fixed set of data acquisition parameters, Advanced Characterization uses the settings currently 
loaded  in  the  instrument,  and  has  a  settings  screen  that  allows  you  to  tailor  the  settings  for  particular 
applications (Figure 22

). Typical settings include a 1 μs bin width and 512 bins. The neutron generator option 

should be chosen to force the download of 2A files.
