tap it instead of typing the rest of the address. You can add as many
addresses as you want. You can also tap the small button at the far right of
the To field and your list of contacts appears. Tap any to whom you want to
send an email.
• Send copies to other recipients.
Tap Cc:/Bcc: and enter names here.
Anyone whose email address you put in the Cc and Bcc boxes gets a copy
of the email message. The difference is that while everyone can see all the
Cc recipients, the Bcc copy is sent in private. None of the other recipients
can see the email addresses you enter in the Bcc field.
NOTE
Cc stands for the term carbon copy and Bcc stands for blind carbon copy . The from those
long-gone days in the last century when people typed mail, documents, and memos on an ancient
device called a typewriter. To make multiple copies, typists added a sheet of carbon paper and another
sheet of typing paper. The force of the keys striking the paper would make an imprint on the second
sheet, using the ink in the carbon paper.
• In the Subject field, type the topic of the message
. A clear, concise sub-
ject line is a good thing for both you and your recipient, so you can imme-
diately see what the message is about when you scan your inbox.
• In the text box, type your message . Type as you would in any other text
field. Note that there’s text in the box already, “Sent from my NOOK,”
which is called a signature. Delete it if you don’t want it to appear. You can
also change the signature that appears, or not have one appear at all. For
details, see page 354.
• Tap Send (or Cancel). Tap the send icon at the top right of the screen, and
the message gets sent immediately. Tap Cancel to cancel it. You’ll then
have the option of saving it as a draft, which you can edit later, or abandon-
ing it entirely. To edit the draft message and send it, you’ll have to go to
your Drafts folder. For details, see page 347.
