Remove a Fan Module

Remove a Fan Module

Remove fan modules (FMs) to replace a failed FM, or to access CMODs.

1.

Prepare the server for service. Choose one of the following methods:

■

Prepare the server for hot service.

FMs are hot-service components.

Access CMODs behind the FMs using a hot-service procedure. See 

“Remove a

CMOD” on page 162

.

■

Prepare the server for warm service.

Access CMODs behind the FMs using a warm-service procedure. See 

“Remove a

CMOD” on page 162

.

■

Prepare the server for cold service.

Access CMODs behind the FMs using a cold-service procedure. See

Identify the fan module that requires removal by its position and designation.

Access fan modules (FMs) from the front of the server. A fan module in a failed state has a lit
