4.15 Clamping the tool
WARNING!
Entanglement hazard by the rotating drawbar!
When horizontal milling the drawbar extends from reverse side of the milling head. The
operating company must ensure appropriate measures by the entrance to the rear of the
milling machine.
WARNING!
When milling operations are performed the cone seat must always be fixed to the draw-
in rod. All cone connections with the taper bore of the work spindle without using the
draw-in rod is not allowed for milling operations. The cone connection should be
released by the lateral pressure. Injuries may be caused by parts flying off.
ATTENTION!
The conical seat of the tool and spindle sleeve must be free of grease and dirt.

ISO 40 tool holder, M16 tie rod.
When vertical milling and horizontal milling, the tool is clamped with a tie rod.

Disassemble the protection cap for the drawbar on the vertical spindle.

Vertical milling - clamp tool from above via the drawbar with a 22mm wrench.

Reassemble the protection cap for the drawbar on the vertical spindle.

Horizontal milling - clamp tool from the rear via the drawbar with a 22mm wrench.
4.16 Removing tool

Loosen the drawbar by about 4 turns and tap with a rubber mallet on the drawbar to loosen
the conical connection.

Then take out the tool completely.
